On June 6, 2025, Sonam walked into the Nandganj police station in Ghazipur, visibly distressed, and admitted to hiring contract killers to eliminate her husband. According to police reports, she was found wandering at a local dhaba before turning herself in. The Meghalaya Police, who had been investigating the couple’s disappearance, swiftly arrested three assailants linked to the murder, with one suspect still at large. The motive behind Sonam’s actions remains under investigation, though preliminary findings suggest personal disputes may have fueled the deadly plot.
The Meghalaya Police earned praise for resolving the case within a week.
